The DC24 is the lightest Dyson upright and is ideal for homes with hard floors and light carpeting. The main advantage of the Dyson DC24 is its light weight and small profile making it easy to carry around and store. It also has the ball making it easy to maneuver around your home as you vacuum. However, the DC24 has about half the suction of the normal Dyson upright and it also has the reversible wand which is a little more difficult to use.
Our recommendation: The DC24 is a great vacuum for people that want a lightweight vacuum that do not have thick carpeting or pet hair issues in their home.
Other models you might want to consider:
Dyson DC25 Multi-Floors for a bigger ball model for larger homes or homes with thicker carpeting and pet hair.
Dyson DC28 Animal if pet hair is a problem and the vacuum weight is not an issue.

What is the difference between the DC24 and the DC25?
The DC24 is lighter. However it has about half the suction, a shorter cord and smaller bin, and the wand is not as easy to use. We recommend the DC24 for customers where the weight is the most important issue or for homes with bare floors and light carpeting. For more robust applications we recommend the DC25 vacuums.
